Zbigniew Preisner

Zbigniew Preisner (b. 1955) is Poland's leading film music composer and is considered to be one of the most outstanding film composers of his generation. For many years Preisner enjoyed a close collaboration with the director Krzysztof Kieslowski and his scriptwriter Krzysztof Piesiewicz. His scores for Kieslowski's films – Dekalog, The Double Life Of Veronique, Three Colours Blue, Three Colours White and Three Colours Red – have brought him international acclaim.

Preisner has scored many feature films including Hector Babenco's At Play In The Fields Of The Lord, Louis Malle's Damage, Luis Mandoki's When A Man Loves A Woman, Agnieszka Holland's The Secret Garden and Charles Sturridge's Fairytale: A True Story; Thomas Vinterberg's It's All About Love, Jean Becker's Effroyables jardins; Claude Miller's Un Secret and Max Färberböck's Anonyma.

Zbigniew Preisner joined the writer and poet Ewa Lipska on 2nd June 2015 at the National Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow (PWST) to celebrate the launch of her new book of poems, titled ‘Czytnik linii papilarnych’. The book is now available in all Polish bookstores. Preisner brought together a distinguished group of Polish musicians for this event: Konrad Mastyło (piano), Michał Półtorak (1st violin), Monika Chrzanowska (2nd violin), Janusz Chrzanowski (viola), Adam Klocek (cello), Anna Szałapak (vocal) and the student choir of PWST. It was also the first time the soprano Edyta Krzemień has performed with Preisner on stage. The music performed included ‘Nymph’ from Decalogue, ‘Concerto’ from Veronique and several new pieces with lyrics by Ewa Lipska from the new book.

Diaries Of Hope

Diaries of Hope is inspired by the diaries and poems of Polish children who were victims of the Holocaust.  Preisner's major new five-movement work features Lisa Gerrard in the principal vocal role and treble Archie Buchanan in settings of two chamber songs, with the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and Crouch End Festival Chorus. 

This is the first time that Lisa Gerrard has collaborated with Preisner. She is best known for her collaboration with Brendan Perry in Dead Can Dance and for her vocals on several major film scores.

Preisner Productions will release Diaries of Hope on CD, vinyl and digital in October 2013. To download the complete album from iTunes Click Here >
